FAQ

First, here are some tutorials for the oekaki applets!:

Shi-painter Pro / Paint BBS

1. What is an oekaki?

An oekaki is just a type of image board that you can draw and upload on. It acts similarly to a forum.


2. How do I draw here?

Just click draw! You'll be brought to a page with a couple different drawing applets. If you're new to oekaki, I'd suggest using ChickenPaint.


3. Can I save my drawing if I'm not done?

You can! Submit your picture on the applet, it will take you to the post page where you can saftey save your picture for later. It won't post to the main board, but will be available for you to re-touch later.


4. What does 'make my picture public' mean?

It means anyone can re-touch your picture, when they do a copy with their edits will be posted to their account. If you put a password, they must have a password to re-touch. Only use these if you want someone else editing your drawing, otherwise keep them unchecked!


5. Do the applets use Java or HTML 5?

ChickenPaint and PaintBBS (with or without palette) are both HTML5. The rest of the applets use Java. If you're having issues with the applet, check troubleshooting options.


6. Do I need Java?

No. The applets are being ran through CheerpJ. Full disclosure, this is a third party application and Java is not officially supported by any modern broswers. Use at your own risk.


7. My drawing failed to upload.

Unfortunately this happens every so often for whatever reason. First, check your picture recovery. If it isn't there, message coral(you can message me here!) to upload your drawing to your account


8. What is the 'animation' option?

You have an option to record your paint strokes. The animation will be available when you upload your drawing. Go to the draw page to use animation.


9. I lost my password

Go here.


10. Do I have to draw something related to the Once-ler fandom?

Nope! Draw whatever you want as long as its within the rules.


11. Why am I waiting on approval?

I don't have an e-mail for this domain! simple as

ChickenPaint pen pressure

-- If windows ink is not enabled, enable it

-- For FireFox users,go to about:config and set both "dom.w3c_pointer_events_dispatch_ by_pointer_messages" and "dom.w3c_pointer_events.enabled" to true.

FireFox mistaking strokes for scrolling

-- Go to about:config and set "dom.w3c_pointer_events.scroll_by_pen.enabled" to false. I suggest changing back wen you're done since this will disable scrolling with your pen on other pages :(
More issues with FireFox:

-- Go to about:config and set "browser.tabs.remote.autostart" to false

Chrome mistaking strokes for gestures

-- Disable gestures here: chrome://flags/#overscroll-history-navigation

Header links not appearing on mobile chrome

-- So far, I've only seen this happening on android. Not sure how to fix it right now but it shouldn't be an issue with overall functionality
